3rd Annual Developing Dreams Breakfast a Success!! | 9/21/2006, back
On Thursday, September 21st the McMains Childrens Developmental Center hosted 350 guests at its 3rd Annual Developing Dreams Breakfast at Boudreauxs. As guests arrived, they were greeted by children from McMains and entertained with music by Don Gros and Friends. John Pastorek from News 2 Louisiana served as Master of Ceremonies and emceed the event. The morning began with a blessing from Father Sam Maranto from St. Gerard Majella and followed with the Pledge of Allegiance, given by children from the Center, Alexis and Will. After breakfast, guests enjoyed a video presentation featuring the story of Philip, one of the children from McMains who has been coming to the Center since he was seven month old. The video also discussed the story of Kimberly, an evacuee from Hurricane Katrina who received helped from the Center after the storm. Following the video, keynote speaker, Julio Melara, president and co-owner of the Baton Rouge Business Report and 225 Magazine gave a motivational speech to the audience. The breakfast was a huge success and over $99,000 was donated and pledged over the next three years to support services provided to children with cerebral palsy, developmental delays and learning disabilities. The breakfast also raised awareness about children and disabilities and many new faces were introduced to McMains and the services that are offered. We wish to acknowledge and thank our generous sponsors for making the breakfast the most successful yet.
