CAPABLE ARTS is a one week art camp designed to introduce and teach children various forms of artistic expression. At McMains Children's Developmental Center we provide services and opportunities for children who have disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, developmental delay, or a learning disability. We are proud to bring this rich and fun camp to them every summer.
St Lillian Academy is joining us again this summer to present Capable Arts 2015, the 15th annual event. In previous years, we have also had the experience of displaying selected artwork in the Jones Walker Foyer at the Shaw Center for the Arts.
Campers are:
- between the ages of 6 and 18
- able to follow instructions
- capable of tolerating group instruction and interaction
CAPABLE ARTS 2015 will be held June 1-5, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Baton Rouge. Camp is from 1:00-4:00 pm Monday through Friday with the final art show and performance on Friday, June 5 from 4:30-6:00 pm. Our theme this year is to be determined. The activities build day to day so your child should participate each and every day, and attend the final performance.
Priority registration will be given to our current clients and students and enrollment packets will be mailed in April 2015; please do not contact us before this time. Registration will then be open to other children in our community. We can accommodate siblings, age 6-12, on a limited basis. All spots will be filled as registration is received. Registration fee for camp this year is $40 for active clients of McMains Children's Developmental Center or St. Lillian Academy and $60 for others (including siblings). If this fee presents a hardship for you, please speak with Anne Hindrichs.
Looking forward to a great CAPABLE ARTS!!
