Capable Arts Camp 2004 | 6/18/2004, back
The McMains Children's Developmental Center offered its fourth annual Capable Arts camp to local children with disabilities June 14-18. The program, sponsored this year by Junior League of Baton Rouge, is designed to help the children express themselves creatively through various artistic mediums. Nearly 40 children came to the Center each afternoon for a week of painting, pottery, dance, storytelling, and photography.
The weeks culminating event took place Friday, June 18th at BREC Independence Park where children where able to showcase their work. The showcase included an art show complete with the childrens paintings and photography, and a dance performance.
Local artists, including painter, Lori Alexander; potter, Janine Kharey; dancer, Becky Coxe; photographer, Erick Taylor; and storyteller, Berry Bateman; provided instruction to the children during Capable Arts.
